About this campaign
Lupe showed up at the Bigbee Humane Society in July 2021. The Joy Committee was able to place her with a foster that same year. Lupe quickly became a foster failure. Fourteen months later, through no fault of her own, Lupe came to live with us. Lupe hasn't looked back a single day and is fully enjoying inside life with our other four dogs.
Lupe is a very loving and energetic dog that loves loving humans. She is very well-behaved and is actually partially trained as a service dog. Lupe doesn't mind my husband or daughter very well, and she likes to love them when I am not around. But I am her favorite human of all, or at least she tells me that!
Lupe has imprinted on me and is doing a wonderful job of keeping me ahead of my MCAS anaphylactic episodes. She is so full of love and patience. She stays by my side after she alerts me and loves to know that I have taken my medication. She never has a bad day, even though she limps quite a lot. She loves coming to the office with me and destressing my clients as they come in to visit.
When we adopted Lupe, we were told she had hip dysplasia that was causing her to limp. At Lupe's first doctor's visit, we found out that her right knee is in horrible shape. At a follow-up visit, the orthopedic surgeon informed us that it appears Lupe was hit by a car at some point, and it damaged her growth plate.
My family has a habit of taking on dogs in need and rebuilding their life. In the past 12 months, we have spent over $8,000 on dogs that needed medical attention. Now, we find our funds depleted, and we need help with Lupe's costs.
