About this campaign

Macey has been through a lot—four moves, three sets of caretakers, and even the loss of her sister. She’s stayed adaptable through it all, always adjusting to new routines and people. Now she lives in her own enclosure, where she’s built a perfect, overstuffed nest inside a little hollow tree stump. She stuffs it with anything soft. She’s been through a lot, but she's still a curious happy girl.

Macey has a mammary tumor—pretty common in aging lab rats, especially since they’re not usually spayed. As it’s gotten bigger, it’s started to grow faster, and if it keeps going, it could quickly make it hard for her to move around or stay comfortable. We got the diagnosis at Evergreen Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital in Kirkland and we're trying to figure out the best way to keep her comfortable.

Macey’s one of a kind. She’s sweet, gentle—she’s never bitten anyone—and always curious, especially when there’s something to sniff. She can even play soccer! She loves peanuts, cheese, and berries (but not strawberries), and climbing onto our shoulders to explore or sniff our hair. She loves to ruffle through our laundry, and has a dinstinct obsession with toothebrushes, paper bedding, and egg!

I’m a contractor, so my income changes month to month—which is part of why I’m making this waggle. It would mean a lot to me for Macey to live out her full little life, without something she can’t control cutting it short. She deserves that chance and more.
