About this campaign

Mackie came into my life 10 years ago. He has been a faithful companion since day one. He knows no strangers. He goes from Lowe’s to Walmart with me. Everyone loves him. He is a service dog and him and I often go to Lowe’s during their children’s events for him to just wonder around and love on the children.

I had him certified as a service dog 5 years ago due to my diabetic concerns. If my glucose drops he wakes me to take my medicine. After being certified that would mean that I do not have to leave him and he could be by my side as necessary. He helps me emotionally. I have also taught him to listen to commands. His gentleness succeeds him.

This has been an unexpected expense and financially I cannot afford the expense to get him further treatment in such a short notice. It has me concerned that I could loose him before I could acquire the funds to make this happen.

About 3 months ago his platelet count has been dropping. The veterinarian placed him on steroids and cancer treatment. It helped for some time but now it is back in the decline. It was 140 a month ago and within the last week it has dropped to 23. He is now in critical condition. The veterinarian wants him to go to Columbus to have his pancreas removed to solve this issue before it kills him.

He is my best friend and my constant support through life. I hate to see him go from a happy dog to not being able to walk. I am so concerned about loosing my best friend. Whenever no one else is around I alway have Mackie. He did have a brother but unfortunately I had lost him years ago due to heat stroke.
