Maddie is a 8-year-old Beagle in Corapeake, NC, who needs $1,700 for Dental Treatment and Heartworm Treatment.

Maddie came into my life when I discovered a group of 8 retired hunting dogs in need of rehoming. I made it my mission 3 months ago to help these dogs. I go daily to care for them. Maddie and her sister came to my home 2 weeks ago, after I successfully prepared a fenced in area for her to exercise in. Since I have cats in the home, for now they are kept separate to maintain harmony.

Maddie prefers to sleep in her cozy dog bed, but insists that I share the same room when it's time for bed. She's quite a communicator, expressing her desires with a bark whenever she wants something. She's very smart and understands what to get when I ask her to get her bone or toy. As soon as someone shows her attention she plops down in hopes of getting belly rubs.

She has a small collection of toys that she loves playing with. It took her some time to grasp the concept of toys and treats, since she hadn't experienced them before. However, once she understood, she developed a strong fondness for playing with both. Her fascination with gazing out windows reflects her keen interest in observing what's happening outside.

Two of Maddie's former kennel mates have been diagnosed with heartworm, a condition that requires costly yet essential treatment. She needs a heartworm test and treatment. Maddie is also in need of dental care, a service she has never received due to her lack of prior veterinary care. Restoring her health comes with a significant financial burden, which is why I am reaching out for help.

I am on a fixed income but I am determined to save Maddie and the rest of her kennel mates from the fate Daisy had. Daisy was the first of the 8 beagles I rescued. She tragically succumbed to heartworm disease. I wasn't able to save her, but there is still hope for Maddie.
