Maddie is a 1-year-old Lab Mix in Jupiter, FL, who needs $1,500 for Bilateral FHO.

We recued Maddie in April of 2020. She lives at home with three kids, me and my husband. We also have a bunny who lives outside and a small, very old, hamster who lives in a cage on a book shelf. We live in a three bedroom townhouse with a large green space just out our backdoor and lots of places to go for walks and see the wild animals that include everything from squirrels to Gopher turtles.

Maddie is the sweetest dog. She loves to be around her humans. She is very affectionate and loves to snuggle. She has never shown any aggression and willingly goes into her crate when we need to leave her home alone. She loves all dogs and people and follows the neighbour's cat around with unending curiosity. She does well both on and off of a leash. She is the nicest dog.

Less than a year and a half ago we declared bankruptcy due to a loss of a restaurant business. We have both been working for a number of years as teachers. However, we do not have the ability to get credit cards therefore the little savings we have acquired is all we have.

Maddie needs to have a Bilateral FHO because she was born with very shallow hip pockets. Without this surgery her quality of life will greatly diminish as she ages. At just over a year old she already has arthirtis. She will be getting treated at the Jupiter Pet and Emergency & Spcialty Center on March 30th. Dr. Padron will be performing the surgery.

Maddie is the sweetest most loving dog. She is clever and loves to snuggle. We have an 11 year old son who has Autism. My son is highfunctioning. However, he didn't start hugging anyone until he was about 6 years old and even now it's still few and far between. He has never kissed or shown much affection towards anyone. But, Maddie, he showers with hugs, kisses and whispers sweet nothings to her.
