Madison is a 14-year-old Chihuahua in Norristown, PA who needs $3,500 for cancer treatment, for surgical oncology.

Maddie has been with us for 12 years. My family wanted a dog, and my mom had always been against pets, but Maddie somehow won her over. She came to live with us when I was a junior in high school. I am the oldest of 4 girls. My step-dad wanted a male dog, but Maddie was just so perfect when we met her, he decided she was the only pup for us. Maddie had only been given table scraps by her previous owners, and then was surrendered to the animal shelter because she was, "too fat". We got her down to a healthy weight, and took care of her allergies (she's allergic to poultry). Maddie helped me get ready for prom, celebrated with me when I got accepted to college, and comforted me through my first heart break. Recently she's had to help me stay positive through my cancer treatments. She sits with me when I'm not feeling well, and plays with me outside when I'm up for it. My other dog, Keanu, loves Maddie to death. Keanu is 4 years old and he's been Maddie's best friend ever since he came to live with us. Maddie and I have always had a special bond. Initially, my family decided to get a dog because my 2 youngest sisters were so persistent. They were tasked with caring for Maddie, but of course neglected those responsibilities, so it fell to big sister Cora to take care of baby Maddie. When I moved out, Maddie stayed with my family. Then my first sister moved out, then the second, then my mom started her own business, and my third sister joined several after school programs. Suddenly there was no one to give Maddie the attention she needed. I took Maddie home to live with me, somewhat worried about how my new, super anxious dog would react to her. My worries were all for nothing! Keanu loved Maddie right away, and Maddie was so happy to have a four-legged friend she was like a whole new dog. We thought Maddie was getting old and tired, but it turns out she just needed a young pup to keep her on her toes. Now Maddie plays outside and with her toys like a much younger dog. I am so proud of her. She makes sure Keanu is safe and not so nervous. Keanu looks to Maddie to make sure its safe wherever they go.
