About this campaign
Hello, we are the Kelley's and are hoping to find help for our sweet Cavalier, Mae. She is only 1 year old and has been diagnosed with a Patella Luxation in both knees. Her right knee is a Grade 2, but her left is a grade 4. She is in pain and having more and more trouble walking everyday.
We got Mae from what was thought to be just an inhome litter, but turned out to be a terrible puppy mill. We have done everything in my power to shut this person down, but that is difficult in Missouri where there is no regulation. Mae was so tiny when we got her, she immediately had out hearts. She is the sweetest, most loving dog we have ever had the honor to meet.
She loves her lamby and ducky and is the perfect furry sibling. She sleeps with us everynight and cuddles up under the covers. She only wants to be in our arms or curled up with her sister. Even though she is in pain, she still tries to keep up and play with her siblings. Her giant brown eyes will literally melt your soul. Knowing she is in pain but still this sweet just breaks our heart for her.
When she was just under a year, she started to limp occasionally. We took her to our vet that stated she had a "bad composition" and was referred to a specialist. At that appt, she was diagnosed with Patella Luxation. They referred us to another specialist as it was so severe. We got a 2nd opinion and were told the same. Surgery consult in KC is next as surgery is the only real option.
They have quoted us $5000-$7000 for the surgeries and then she will need ongoing physical therapy. We just can't afford that much in such a short time. She means everything to us, she is such a kind puppy, we can't imagine her being in this amount of pain daily.
