About this campaign

Sgt. Gregory Butcher found Maggie in 2008 at a shelter in Salt Lake City, Utah after his deployment of 18 months in Iraq. He needed a friend and so did she. She was seven at the time. They are meant for each other. She slept on his chest for months after they were united. They now live with Greg's wife of seven years in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Despite Mag Mags illness she is still spirited and initiates play with both Greg and, his wife, Beatrice. Maggie and Bea have a special bond however Maggie always reaches for her Dad when scared or not feeling well. Maggie sleeps next to Greg's side of the bed but always wakes them both up with a morning jump and nudge. She's a real trooper!

Maggie is in love with her walks! Being 16 she doesn't get out as much but her Dad and mom carry her down to the grass to potty daily so she can participate in doggy delights like sniffing smells we cannot see. Mag Mag is a sweet and gentle girl that brings light into the lives she had touched, including her rescue brother, Creature.

Maggie began peeing bloody urine about a month ago and we got her into the vet as quickly as we could. After X-rays they discovered a bladder stone that encompassed her entire bladder causing a UTI. The condition is fatal without surgery. She is being seen at Banfield Animal Hospital in City Creek, Utah.

Beatrice has been undergoing cancer treatment for the last year and has not been able to work as she has to stay inside due to being immunocompromised. Greg has had to take time off of work care for his wife. This has put strain on there finances putting Mags life at risk.
