Magic Man is a 3-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound in Carthage, NC, who needs $2,000 for FHO surgery.

Magic Man came to us after being dumped by our neighbors. He roamed the neighborhood but would never stay long. I finally was able to trap him and take him to the vet because I noticed he was limping on one leg that barely had any muscle to it. He is currently crate trained and potty trained. He is very sweet and docile. He needs the TLC that he had never been shown.

Magic Man gets along very well with all three of our other dogs. He doesn’t mind the cats, but they do intimidate him. He accepts that they are above him on the totem pole. Everyone cuddles and plays very nicely. He is adjusting to my husband, but he is still “take it or leave it” with him. I think he will come around soon!

Magic Man likes to occasionally start a howling contest with the whole house. He loves to play with his bestie, Ryder (our pit mix). And he had recently shown interest in rope and chew toys. Most of his days are spent resting, playing lightly, or just enjoying the sun outside. He does a little shuffle with his feet when it’s feeding time because it’s his favorite time of day.

We are currently taking him to VCA Animal Hospital in Carthage, NC. Magic Man is heartworm positive and is receiving treatment for that. He had broken his pelvis sometime in the past year and it has healed but his hip is shattered. There is also a small BB pellet in there. He will need an FHO surgery to repair his pelvis and to hopefully not be in severe pain like he is now.

This surgery is expensive in and of itself. We are currently treating his heartworm/worms/etc which is also expensive. We are hoping just for a bit of help since we have 5 other animals with us already.
