Maisel came into my life when I went to meet two kittens being fostered in an overcrowded apartment. She was just 2 months old, with a severe eye infection, and had been abandoned in a box with her tiny mother and other kittens who didn’t survive. I couldn’t leave them behind or separate them, so I brought them both home. She now lives safely indoors with me, her mom, and my cat Bixby.

Maisel was born with a condition where her eyelids never fully formed, causing constant pain as hair rubs against her eyes. Over time, this has led to damage and vision loss. A veterinary ophthalmologist at Animal Vision Care & Surgical Center has recommended urgent surgery to stop the damage, relieve her pain, and help preserve her remaining vision.

Maisel is a spunky, fearless little girl full of personality. She has a hilarious little “mrrp” like she’s talking, and does a tiny circle dance at feeding time that makes everyone smile. She’s affectionate and bonded with me, her mom, and Bixby. Even with vision challenges, she’s full of life—I just want her to live comfortably and without pain.

I am a full-time student about to begin an unpaid clinical internship, with limited and inconsistent income. I am committed to covering as much of Maisel’s surgery as I can, but I need help reaching the full cost so she can receive this urgent, vision-saving procedure.
