About this campaign

I adopted Maisey from a family that was relocating, and couldn't take her with them. Maisey doesn't like riding in cars. She has been a companion to my children for the past several years. Both children have anxiety, and I feel she has been a great comfort to them. She is a sweet dog who just wants to be petted and loved.

Maisey sleeps in a comfy bed in the dining room where she can see everyone coming and going. She has taught our other dog, a pitbull mix, to be brave, especially when it comes to going out in the rain. The whole family takes turns walking her. She is an old lady, and is not as playful as she used to be, but she enjoys giving and receiving affection.

Our finances have been tight since my father passed away two years ago, and we lost our family home. We're still trying to get back on solid ground. My son will be devastated if we can't help Maisey. We also have another dog who will be depressed if he doesn't have Maisey.

We took Maisey on a walk about two weeks ago, and noticed her paw was bleeding when we brought her in. We took her to Countryside Veterinary Hospital in Toney, AL, and found out she has a tumor. They say she has bone cancer. They said it hasn't spread yet. The prognosis looks good if we can get her toe amputated.

Maisey is a very social dog, and wants to make friends with everyone on two legs or four. When she was younger, she used to dance around on her hind legs in the hope she could charm you into giving her a treat. Maisey also loves frolicking in the snow (we don't get much around here). The first time I saw her running around in the snow, it was so cute. She was like a little puppy.
