Help save a precious cat in need!
Three weeks ago, workers at a found a skinny cat with a big belly living in their parking lot. They think Maisie may have been pregnant and were worried for her safety under the donation dumpster.
We immediately stepped in to take her to the vet where they were alarmed by her yellow coloring and pale gums. Through further diagnostics, we learned that Maisie is fighting for her against a dangerous condition called IMHA. Her body is attacking its own red blood cells, leaving her weak and struggling to breathe.
She was also found to be anemic, and her liver values were elevated. She was immediately started on cyclosporine and prednisolone. Fluid was trained from her abdomen but not conclusive, neither was an ultrasound. Without immediate treatment, she may not survive.
Maisie needed further diagnostics and blood work over a few weeks. The recent ultrasound results paint a grim picture, hinting at possible GI cancer. It's a gut-wrenching realization that this beloved feline may be facing an uphill battle against a deadly disease.
Over the course of the three weeks, we as an organization, the vet staff, and especially her foster have fallen in love with her and are committed to helping her. We won't give up on her! We'll continue to fight alongside her, hoping for a miracle.
She has survived being in a busy parking lot with a deadly disease, seems to have beaten IMHA, and now needs to battle liver failure and possible GI cancer. She has shown a willingness to fight, and we want to give her the means to do so.
Maisie is so loving and constantly rubs against her foster, sleeps with the dog, makes biscuits in the foster’s lap. She is grateful for attention and care, and we can’t stop now.
