Maizy is a 2-year-old English Bulldog in Fort Collins, CO, who needs $1,045 for Severe Allergies.

Maizy has been a member of our tiny family since she was 3 months old (her 2 year adoption anniversary is this month)! She has travelled with us to several cities, but we currently call Fort Collins, CO home. Unfortunately, this move unexpectedly impacted her health in a serious way. We found out she is EXTREMELY allergic to Pine (which we didn’t deal with in Nebraska). It’s a daily battle.

Maizy spends most of her days sleeping on a cozy daybed on our oversized apartment window sill. She loves watching the people and squirrels below. If it were up to her, she’d spend all her time outside wrestling other pups or wading through the water like a little hippo. Unfortunately, her health and allergies require she spends most of her time indoors now until they get under control.

Maizy is a little soundboard, but you never really know what noise she’ll make next. From reverse sneezes to piggy grunts and squeaks, she really is quite the personality. She’s also never met another living creature she doesn’t want to befriend, even if the feeling isn’t mutual. We love our sweet angel pup and her big heart. It’s almost as big as her bowling ball head.

If we knew moving to CO would negatively impact Maizy’s health, we wouldn’t have done it. The team at Family and Friends Veterinary Care in FoCo has helped us figure out Maizy has a whole laundry list of allergies. We started exposure therapy (the only chance at a cure) but this requires that Maizy gets shots every other day. It’s expensive and scary but Maizy is so brave!

As a grad student battling my own health issues, money is tight. My partner works hard to help support us but he is also supporting his mother financially to help her find a more suitable, stable living arrangement. Maizy’s health is a priority but we could use some help.
