About this campaign
Major's journey began when he was about 9 months old when a highway patrolman found him on the side of a highway. The officer took him to the local shelter in the hopes that his owner would find him. No one claimed him before the weekend when he was scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, the officer followed his case and contacted a rescue agency that took him in where we found him - best day!
Just before Thanksgiving, he stepped on something and got a puncture wound in his paw. We took him to the vet (Noah's Ark) when we realized the wound was infected. His condition rapidly deteriorated and it turned out that the infection was tetanus. Fortunately, MedVet carries the antibodies to treat the infection. However, it required 6 days in hospital and many weeks convalescing at home.
Major is a lover and leaner - everyone he meets is his new best friend. He is especially attached to the grandson and sticks to him like Velcro. Major is the gentlest big dog ever and takes care not to knock over toddlers and elders. He is aware of everyone's mood and leans in when he senses sadness. He has the best life chasing squirrels, rabbits, and wrestling his brother, Captain.
The cost is ~$20,000 including physical therapy. Payment is required up front and our credit cards are maxed out and we used all our available cash. He needs follow-up care and therapy. The prognosis is 100% recovery. He is so strong and determined.
