Makaya is a 12 yr old Golden Retriever who we picked from a litter without ever meeting her at 2 weeks old. It was love a first photo. She started acting not herself and losing weight and we got really concerned that we were going to lose her. Afte all she is 12. We took her to the vet and found out she needed emergency surgery to save her life. But at her age the surgery was very risky.

She has been a member of our family for 12 yrs and is the kindest most gentle soul. She loves the grand kids and plays with them just like she was still a puppy. So when she couldn't stand up and move around we knew something was wrong. She is one that will put her head in your hand for attention and she wasn't even wanting to be touched. The grandbabies didn't understand and we needed answers

She loves her babies (stuffed animals) and will carry them all over the place. Never chewing on them or anything just likes to have them with her. She will put her head on your foot and just leave it there when you are sitting watching TV. If she wan't to be pet she puts her head in your hand. Anything to be touching someone that all she needs is to feel someone with her. She is a comfort dog

She had her emergency surgery on 2/3/24 and was released on 2/5/25 to come back home as good as new. She was diagnosed with Pyometra and her uterus was filling with fluid When removed it weighted 7lbs. She had closed Pyometra and it wasn't draining. Without surgery she wouldn't have lived much longer. We had them run tests to make sure she was healthy enough to do the surgery due to cost/age

We made a quick decision to save her life when they came in and told us that other than one mammary mass and the Pyometra she was healthy and a good candidate for the surgery. We applied for Care Credit to pay the bill but now we have to figure out a way to pay that off.
