Mama Annie is a 7-year-old Domestic in Huntington, WV, who needs $1,750 for surgery and intensive care.

Mama Annie is a 7-8 yr old cat and her medical issue is consistent with having too many litters of kittens over her lifetime. Annie delivered five kittens but only one survived. However, the worst part of the story is Annie suffered a prolapse and a large part of her insides were outside on the ground and she was being eaten from the inside out by flies.

The smell was reported to be the worst our transporter had ever smelled. On top of all that, Annie has an upper respiratory infection making surgery to repair her prolapse high risk, but it had to be done. We found out that, at one point in her life, Annie's jaw had been broken and healed incorrectly.
During surgery at the ER, Annie had a feeding tube placed. This is when we got a big scare!

We are thankful for the swift care provided to her by the staff of the Tri-State Animal ER, Inc., who without a doubt saved her life. Send Annie some encouraging thoughts and the ER staff some well-deserved praise. Hang in there, Annie. We hope how soon this is behind you.

Her biggest hurdle is the nasal congestion which is causing breathing difficulty, and is the primary reason she doesn’t want to eat. She is on two aggressive antibiotics, IV fluids, pain meds for her surgery, and on round-the-clock tube feedings.

Suddenly Annie couldn’t breathe and her gums turned gray! The vet called to say Annie was receiving oxygen and they were on standby to do CPR as she was quickly declining. An X-RAY showed her feeding tube had shifted out of her stomach up into her esophagus, and her airway was blocked with mucus. Thank goodness they were able to reposition it, and she is back to breathing normally with pink gums.
