About this campaign

Mama is a senior rescue cat I took in after she spent most of her life outside as a stray. When I first found her 1 m/o ago, she was extremely thin, weak, dehydrated, and neglected. Despite everything she’s been through, she quickly became incredibly affectionate and attached to me. She is my only pet and lives indoors with me. I named her Mama bc of her loud, silly grand-ma sounding, meow.

Mama is being treated at Happy Tails Animal clinic- Brooklyn, NY. Diagnosed with diabetes following multiple seizures, anemia-related abnormalities + infection concerns. Mama requires ongoing long-term treatment, monitoring, diagnostic testing, and specialized care to help stabilize her diabetes and seizure episodes.Vet wants to rule out a possible abdominal tumor to determine the safest treatment

What makes Mama special is her resilience. After a lifetime of pain, fear, & survival, she still chooses trust, affection, eating, and showing the will to keep going. Being deaf, she relies on touch & visual connection, this created a unique language & very strong bond between us. Seeing her feel safe enough to sleep beside me and meow at me for pets is rewarding, and means the world to us both

Her medical needs were far more extensive than I expected when I agreed to take her in. Treatment is overwhelming, I worry I won’t be able to help her.I do not have savings or financial support, and work barely covers my own living expenses, yet I refuse to give up on her
