About this campaign
I adopted Manny when he was around 8 1/2. It was love at first sight. He was able to have a permanent home (after being returned to the shelter multiple times in the previous year). Manny now gets 70-90 minutes of walking each day. He has a rotating batch of toys and he has plenty of humans and other dogs in the neighborhood that he’s become popular with. Everyone always says, “he’s so sweet.”
What immediately became clear was how sweet he was and how important his family is. This is especially true with our six year old son. Manny will sleep by his side and likes to be near him whenever they are both home. Manny has his own bed next to his mom and dad and once we get ready for bed each night, he makes sure to make his way to the bedroom.
The amount of money required for this procedure was unexpected and out of my price range. Manny means everything to me, knowing he has a tumor that is causing him pain is heartbreaking to me. He has done so much for our family and I just want him to be pain free with family.
Manny has nuclear sclerosis and chorioretinal scarring in both eyes. These issues have become exacerbated by a tumor on his eyelid. This is causing irritation in his eyes and needs to be removed. We are seeking treatment from Dr. King at MedVet Chicago at 3305 N. California Ave in Chicago, IL (60618).
Manny loves being in the center of the action. When we watch TV, he wants to sit in between us. When we hang out on the back porch, he lays on or by our feet. Whenever we come home he will first cry, and then go get one of his toys. He does this whenever he gets excited. If we’re playing with him and he gets super excited, he’ll go find a toy to play tug of war with.
