🐾 In Loving Memory of Maple Anne ❤️🌈
It is with very heavy hearts that we share the sad news that Maple Anne has passed away.
When Maple Anne came into our care, she was already facing some very serious medical problems. Her tongue had become necrotic, meaning the tissue was no longer healthy or viable, and her bloodwork showed that her little body was struggling. Despite receiving care and everyone hoping she would be able to turn a corner, sadly, she was simply too sick.
We always hope that every dog who comes through our doors will have the chance to heal, find a family, and experience the happy ending they deserve. Unfortunately, sometimes they come to us after their bodies have already endured more than they can overcome. Maple Anne was one of those heartbreaking cases.
Although we wish we could have changed the outcome for her, we are thankful that Maple Anne was rescued and surrounded by people who cared about her in her final days. She mattered, she was loved, and she did not have to face the end of her journey alone.
Thank you to everyone who donated, prayed for her, shared her story, and supported her care. We know these are the updates no one ever wants to read, and certainly the ones we never want to have to write.
Rest peacefully, sweet Maple Anne. You deserved so much more time, but you will not be forgotten. Run free over the Rainbow Bridge, beautiful girl. 🌈❤️🐾

She deserved more than to be given up on. This sweet senior girl, now named Maple Anne, was found huddled outside the door of a public works office and taken to Missouri City Animal Shelter. When shelter staff told CAMO Rescue she wasn't eating, they knew they had to give her a chance.
As they prepared her for transport, an animal control officer took one more look and made a heartbreaking discovery. Her tongue was necrotic, and when they gently opened her mouth, a large piece of it detached. They asked if they should euthanize her.
CAMO immediately said no.
She deserves the opportunity to be evaluated, to have her pain treated, and to know that someone is willing to fight for her. She's now on her way to their veterinarian, where they'll learn what's causing this devastating condition and whether treatment is possible. They don't know what the outcome will be, but they couldn't let her story end without trying.
