Mars was a rescue puppy with LOTS of energy. Too much energy for my mother who was experiencing a decline in health. I couldn't bare to see him sent back to the animal rescue so I had him flown out to Georgia so we could be his new family. We had already had a dog that we rescued so we thought no big we will keep him in the family.

It took a couple of years and LOTS of cleaning products, but he is our dog. We go on car rides, vacations, and shopping. He is the ultimate road dog. He used to be very distrustful of men but he is getting so much better at being around people. He is really smart and knows when it is past everyone's bedtime; Mars will just stand really close to you and try to herd you into the bedroom.

Mars likes to cuddle. If he sits next to you then he expects you to pet him. Mars has two beds, his favorite one is by the front door so he can protect us against the postal carrier, the Amazon delivery person and anyone walking or breathing in his territory. In the past he used to be really aggressive with new people, but he has mellowed with age and is very approachable if you feed bacon.

Mars has a problem that is common for Chiweenies called Luxating Patella; his kneecaps keep slipping out of place. For Mars this condition is only on his right kneecap. Normally the kneecap pops out & pops right back into place but 2 days ago while running to meet the mail carrier he tore his ACL. He needs a surgery called Lateral Suture. Normally the surgery needed would not be an issue but lately it seems like there have been one unexpected expense after another. There are two individuals in the house hold attending college, medical procedures, physical & mental therapy appointments.
