About this campaign
Meet Marlo! Marlo was born on 11/14/2022 just north of Pittsburgh. Marlo was one of two boys in a litter of 4. Marlo’s mom and dad are both yellow labs. Marlo was picked up by his owners on January 7th, 2023 and they instantly fell in love with him! Our happy Marlo now lives in Baltimore, MD, and he is loving the city life!
Marlo is the only child of a young couple, so it is happy to say he is spoiled! Marlo loves to play, eat, and spend quality time with his owners. Marlo is a very big cuddle monster and after a play session, loves nothing more than curling up into his owners lap and taking a snooze. Marlo is affectionate and anyone who meets Marlo immediacy falls in love.
Marlo is a very special dog. His breeder first described him as a people lover and a puppy that would eventually make a good service dog, which we instantly loved. Marlo has made us laugh since day 1- just like any lab, Marlo loves food. He is constantly dipping his big ears and face into his food and water bowl which results in a nose full of food and two soaked ears. He doesn’t seem to mind!
At about 8.5 weeks, Marlo’s neurological status began to decline- lethargy, clumsiness, staring blankly. Then he started to urinate orange. We took him to our local vet ER and they told us to go directly to UPenn vet hospital the next day or Marlo could die from ammonia build up. Marlo was diagnosed with a intrahepatic liver shunt less than a week later after our doctor did an ultrasound.
In the next 10 months, my fiancé and I are faced with the unexpected financial burden medications, prescription food, and eventually a CT scan and intrahepatic liver surgery. We are looking for ways to make this surgery possible so Marlo can live a long healthy life.
