About this campaign

I first met Marmalade at my city shelter. I was a registered foster, and I was picked to take on this little orange creamsicle after she was found as a tiny stray kitten with a broken back leg.

After her leg healed, her knee started popping out of socket - every time she straightens her leg. She has been favoring her leg when she sits. She doesn't jump up or play much. A local veterinarian, Dr. Oliver at Lyndon Animal Clinic, said she has a +3 patella subluxation that will not get better on its own. He says that she will get more lame as she gets older due to arthritis and scarring.

Marmalade is a joy to have around. She loves belly rubs and nose kisses. She doesn't like her glucosamine medication, but she takes it like a trooper. Then she needs to get water from the bathroom faucet so she can rinse her mouth out. Then she asks for me to set her down onto the floor. She is really smart and comes in from the backyard when I call her. She loves her 2 cat sisters.

I have been on permanent disability for 5 years. The first 2 I had to take money out of retirement to live. Now I don't have much left, and I am 52. I have a retired mother who needs help to pay bills. I just want her not to hurt anymore and be able to play again.
