About this campaign
Marx came into my life a few days after Thanksgiving in 2017. We already had two cats, but he chose us by crawling onto my partner's lap via his shoulder from a perch at the shelter. We now have four cats that we've had since 2018, and we truly are a little family. We call them siblings and they act like it. We have had to move a few times with them and they always keep each other company.
In April '24, I noticed a bump on his left jaw. We went to the vet and they gave us a quote that we just couldn't pay to simply test for what the bump could be. We were practically homeless at this point, and it took us until February this year to get him to City Way Animal Clinic Mass Ave. He has become extremely thin because it hurts him to eat. He also has a problem in his left eye that is new.
Marx is one of the most special beings I've ever come into contact with. My partner and I call him the "cat of all time" because he truly is an amazing creature. He is very shy but the sweetest boy; he isn't very talkative except with me, because I'm his person. He does chitter at birds out the window, though! He loves to play with strings and his little sister Fern. Mostly he loves to cuddle me.
Like a lot of people, we've fallen on hard times in the past few years. I have been searching for a job for over a year now, my partner is working two jobs to support us. My pets mean everything to me. I spend all of my time with them and I love them like my children.
