About this campaign

On the first of the year, I pulled Mary a 3 year old Pit Bull from an underfunded and under supported shelter in Louisianna. Mary did not have much time left before she was expected to be euthanized. We have fostered upwards of 300 pit bulls over the years and our hope was to do the same for Mary. We confirmed a transport and she arrived in Upstate New York to begin her new life.

We have learned a lot about Mary over the past couple of months. Shelter life and the transportation was extremely traumatizing for her. She arrived completely petrified. Through this fear, she has attached very closely to myself and my significant other. While our hope is that Mary will find her forever family someday, if that does not happen- we are her family.

Ms Mary has some very interesting behaviors. We know that she must have had a tough start in life because at the age of 3, she nurses on blankets. This is a sign that she was taken away from her mom too soon. She is also extremely timid with some people which leads us to believe that she was hurt by someone. That being said, she is incredibly loving to the people she builds trust with!

When We pulled Mary, we were under the impression that she was Heartworm Negative. Unfortunately we have found out that she is in advanced stages of heartworm. The x rays also revealed that she has wire in her intestines. She will have to undergo medical treatment that will cost approximately $2500.

I have rescued and fostered upwards of 300 dogs, mainly focusing on pulling females that are pregnant. It breaks my heart to say that I do not have the financial means to put Mary through medical treatment as I have many lives to save.
