Matilda is a feral rescue we adopted in June 2021. She was a mean little spicy kitten but has grown into the single sweetest cat I have ever met. She snuggles me every time I sit down and is a fluffy ball of purr. She lives with 2 other kitties in our home in San Diego. She is gentle and sweet with my kids and loves to sit next to me on the couch and rest her head on my lap.

Matilda is a snuggle bug. She likes to cuddle with me especially, but will warm the lap of anyone who sits on the couch! She loves to be scratched and brushed and purrs constantly. She’s sweet with the kids, and very tolerant with a baby who is learning how to interact with animals. She has never scratched either kid, and is fun and playful with her “brothers.”

Matilda loves to eat and to be on top of me. If she could, she would never leave my lap. She wants to be pet and snuggled every minute of every day. She’s playful and fun and loves to chase light reflections and run around with her “brothers.” She’s got a wild streak and can often be found chasing the other cats at top speed.

Matilda seemed off recently, and a friend noticed that when she scratched Matilda’s cheek, she was in pain. We looked in her mouth and it was red and inflamed. Her breath has always been stinky but I didn’t think much of it. However, when I picked her up I realized she was feeling very thin and I was suddenly terrified. We took her to the vet the following day where she was diagnosed.

We are a single income military family with a baby and a high needs kindergartener. I applied for care credit, but even with that help, her bill is over $2000 for HALF of the necessary treatment and she’s so young, I just want her to have a long happy life.
