About this campaign

Matilda started her life as a bait dog in a fighting ring in California. After she was rescued, she was moved from a kill shelter to a pit rescue in Tacoma, WA where we met. It was love at first sight and we've been together ever since. Matilda is my best friend and I can't imagine living without her.

'Tilda hops into bed with me in the morning, cuddles for a minute and then asks to be let out to chase a squirrel or raccoon away from our chickens. Then it's a three mile walk around the neighborhood before breakfast. After a walk she's always happy to spend the day curled up on her favorite chair while I work. When I return she's always there to greet me with the wiggliest butt ever.

Just like many people, I have been affected by the global pandemic. I was forced to close the fledgling business I started last year and have taken a temporary job that ends next month. I don't know what we're going to do.

On August 11th of this year Matilda was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, a tumor growing in the bones of her ribcage. Our vet has told us that surgery is the only option, but that if we can afford to do the surgery, the prognosis is very good. They think she will make a full recovery if we can remove the tumor soon.

Matilda loves people more than anything. She is always happy to greet a visitor and after a quick intro bark just wants to wag and sniff and get pets. She is an 85 pound lap dog and though she can't jump well because of her knees, she'll climb right on top of you, lay down and expect belly rubs. But watch out for that tail! When she wags it's powerful!
