About this campaign
We adopted Max on July 1, 2026, from Columbia County Animal Services in Grovetown, GA. He had been abandoned with several cats and kittens. We are unsure what care he received before, but his medical issues suggest he was neglected. Now he is part of our family, enjoying a big backyard, daily walks, love, and our family cat.
Max was diagnosed with heartworm and began early treatment with doxycycline at Grove Veterinary in Grovetown, GA. A few days later, he stopped eating and began vomiting. We rushed him back for care and he was diagnosed with canine parvovirus. He is receiving treatment at Rogers Veterinary Practice. He will also need to be neutered and have a benign neck cyst removed after he recovers.
Max is incredibly gentle, intelligent, and easygoing. He seems to have had some training, quickly following commands like sit and lie down. While he doesn’t seem interested in the many toys we’ve bought him (much to our amusement), he loves spending time with people. He never shows aggression, rarely barks, and has fit into our family and alongside our cat perfectly.
We adopted Max less than a week ago. After recently PCS’ing and buying a home, finances are tight, but we’re committed to his recovery. Any donation, big or small, helps. If funds remain after Max’s care, we’ll donate them to another pet in need.
