About this campaign
My name is Sarah and I am a new friend of Craig and Max's. I had read their story on a local facebook group page and by a twist of luck, ran into them the next evening. I started talking to Craig and I have been helping him since. Craig and Max are currently homeless and in the process of finding a more stable living situation. Craig's main focus is getting Max back to 100%.
Max was hit by a car a few months ago. Craig sought care and the vet said he should euthanize Max. Craig ended up nursing Max back to life and now the only thing wrong with Max is his broken/healed over front leg. He doesn't put weight on it and is in pain most evenings. After a vet visit on 6/8 it was recommended that they amputate the leg.
As stated above, Craig and Max are homeless. They are in and out of motels and what little money Craig does receive it would take months to save up for this surgery as well as try to survive on the streets, that is why with Craig's permission we are asking for help.
Back to Max's medical situation, he was seen on 6/8 at Horse Heaven Hills Pet Urgent Care in Kennewick. WA. Craig was hopeful that they could fix Max's broken leg but since it has already healed itself, it was recommended to amputate. Craig is okay with that option since he only wants whats best for Max.
Max is a very happy chihuahua/dachshund mix who loves Craig. He is very well-mannered and basically follows Craig anywhere and everywhere. Max is about 4 years old and Craig rescued him when he was a puppy. He loves to smile and Craig jokes that Max reminds him of the dog from Jim Carrey's movie The Mask.
