About this campaign
My husband and I were lokk6for a companion for our other dog and we stumbled upon Maximus. He was rescued from a humane society. He was a stray so they took him in. We adopted him only a week after he was brought into the shelter and we instantly fell in love with him. He is currently living with us in a rental in Bucks County, Pa.
When we adopted Maximus, he had a little limp. We took him to Pet's Furst Urgent Care and they said not to worry about it. The limp kept getting worse so we took him again. We asked for an x-ray. He ended up having Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD). It's a rare condition that affects the cartilage between the joints causing lameness and pain. The vet recommended Blue Pearl Vet Hospital for surgery.
He is just everything we wanted in a dog. He has become a companion to our other dog who he loves to play with. He is very smart and energetic. Loves to learn new tricks and will play with you all day everyday. Unfortunately, with this condition he is not allowed any kind of activity. He is not even allowed to do stairs and we live in a townhouse with multiple sets of stairs.
This was a condition that was found after we adopted him. We didn't have anything saved up for a sudden surgery like this. My pet insurance won't cover it also since it's a condition he was born with. We just don't have the funds for a surgery like this.
