Maybel came into our lives as a puppy when we really needed her. I left my abusive marriage of 10 years with my three children and needed a new start and welcomed her into our family when she was 8 weeks old. She became the glue for our new little family. We were in a small apartment at the time and doing our best! She took our minds off of what we were having to deal with.

Maybel absolutely loves running around with our 8 children! She is adored by everyone in our large family. She bring so much joy to our lives and especially to her “little brother” ceasar…our Great Dane! She is mommy’s princess first though. She is the sweetest little girl in the world. She loves being outside chasing our chickens!

She makes our family happy every single day but her little quirks are our favorite. She smiles, she snorts, she thinks she’s bigger than our Great Dane with her antics! She’s such a happy go lucky dog and never nips or bites. The best family dog! She has so much patience with our 8 children and brings so much joy to our lives. She hates the snow and the heat and definitely enjoys the ac!

Maybel had a recent heat cycle two weeks ago and for the past three days has been lethargic and wouldn’t eat. I brought her to the vet today and she started leaking blood/pus from her vulva on the way there. She was diagnosed with pyometra which basically means her uterus is infected and full of blood and pus and needs emergency surgery tomorrow morning in order to survive.

My husband and I work to provide for a family of 10 without government assistance. He works days and I work nights so I can stay home with the kids and get them to school and appointments. We’ve been able to keep our heads barely above water but this is a huge blow to us
