About this campaign
Maylin was rescued at just a week old from a hoarder house with over 40 cats during COVID. As a tiny kitten with no mommy, she was bottle fed and cared for tirelessly by the the amazing rescue that took her in. At 4 months old, Maylin and I were connected and she's been by my side (literally!) ever since. She lives with me and her little brother and resident pain-in-the-butt, Dallas and myself.
Maylin was brought into the vet because she was having a recurrent, scary sounding cough. We discovered she has a pretty severe case of peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia. While she was likely born with it (we suspect inbreeding from the hoarder situation), it has worsened over time and the vet says she likely only has 30% lung capacity as well as affecting her heart.
I have no words to describe how much Maylin means to me. She was a COVID cat (adopted in the middle of COVID) as because I've worked from home since, I joke that we are somewhat codependent. Through some very difficult times, Maylin has been the light of my life and best friend and I don't know what I'd do without her. Truly.
We live in Asheville, North Carolina which was devastated by Hurricane Helene. While we were safe, it disrupted my work and I am still recovering financially. I will only be able to cover about half of her medical costs, and without support, it is unlike we can move forward
