Meatball needs you to be her hope.

This sweet pittie was found wandering a Florida neighborhood, quietly moving from street to street and occasionally stopping near people’s homes. Every so often, a kind neighbor would leave food out for her. One generous person did just that one night and that’s when everything changed.

When the neighbor approached her, Meatball was happy as could be—tail wagging, eyes bright, eager to say hello. She wasn’t afraid at all, just thrilled to feel the gentle touch of a human. Neighbors began asking around to see if she even belonged to this person. She didn’t. Still, the kindhearted neighbor continued leaving food out for Meatball, making sure she never went hungry.

It soon became clear that this sweet girl was badly injured and needed immediate medical attention. The family did everything they could, providing a dog bed and basic supplies to keep her clean and comfortable, but her injuries were beyond what they could manage alone. That’s when SAFE Animal Shelter stepped in.

Even a small rescue is better equipped to care for an animal with extreme medical needs and that is exactly what SAFE is doing now. Meatball’s wounds are deep, and healing will take time, patience, and extensive care. But we are determined to give her everything she needs to recover.

Thank you to everyone who supported Meatball on her healing journey. Thanks to you, her surgery went well, and she is healing great. She should be well on her way to making a full recovery and, hopefully, finding her forever home soon.
