Melina was found under my car on my driveway almost 7 years ago as a tiny kitten. There was no momma cat or kitten siblings anywhere. Her cute little face was covered in snot. I picked her up and gave her a warm bath. I fell in love with her, got her spayed, vaccinated and chipped, and she became part of our family of humans and pets, including revolving foster kittens we rescue and place in homes

I noticed Melina wasn't being herself and didn't have much appetite. I took her to an after-hours clinic where she was given subcutaneous fluids, and the next morning to her regular vet, where I was recommended to take her to an urgent care. I went to Kinder4Rescue, where after diagnostics I was told she was diabetic. I was then referred to Eagle Rock Animal Emergency, where she is hospitalized.

Melina is feisty and spunky. She likes to chase her cat brother. She'll ignore you when she needs her space, but comes cuddle with you on her terms. She loves to fetch bead necklaces. She loves her human brother and sister. She loves to sleep on my back when I'm laying down and hold me hostage. Melina was once an aspiring model who placed high on a pet photo contest and has her own Instagram page.

I'm on a single-income household supporting my kids who are finishing college and starting their careers. I rescue and foster community kittens and get them ready for adoption out-of-pocket. I had unexpected car expenses recently, and Melina's vet bills are adding up.
