Melony is a 4 year old German Shepherd Dog in SAUK RAPIDS, MN, who needs $2,000 for TPLO with PRP Surgery.

Melony joined our family 4 1/2 years ago after she was left in a box by the river as a puppy. She was approximately only 4 weeks old. She joined and older brother and now has a younger brother that completes our little pack.

On Sunday, December 1, Melony was playing her daily game of fetch with her little brother Tucker when she slipped and came limping back. Our game was suddenly over.

We took her to see her favorite vet at Pine Cone Pet Hospital on Monday. Her Dr. Vogl did an exam and xray of her knee. The xray showed she had ruptured her CCL ligament. She is now on strict rest to reduce swelling until her surgery in January. She has to take carprofen (pet ibuprofen), gabapentin and trazadone to control pain and to keep her calm so she doesn't cause more damage to her knee.

Melony's brothers are Teddy and Tucker. When Tucker joined our family, Melony took Tucker on as her puppy. From that day, the two are inseparable. Tucker is very worried about Melony, as the rest of the family is too. Melony loves to play ball, but won't be able to for some time. She loves going in the truck with dad and with mom for pup cups. She loves meeting new people while shopping.

We have pet ins, but there is a waiting period for CCL injuries of 6 months. She injured her CCL 5 days before the waiting period ended and ins will not help cover the surgery costs. We were given an estimate of $4900. I am disabled, we just have 1 income.
