Merfy is a 5-month-old Basset Hound in Anamosa , IA, who needs $2,000 for Dermoid Removal.

Merfy came into our lives in December after we lost one of our beagles. We had Layla and Mia for 8 years when Mia passed. Layla did not do good without Mia. She would howl constantly and cry. We got merfy to give her companionship that we could not. They slowly have become best friends. He has a dermoid in his eye. The breeder gave us lots of false information on the cost of the dermoid removal.

Merfy is great with us so far. He absolutely loves his sister Layla. He always wants to be by her. When we have babysat kids he does wonderful and has none shown any aggression towards them or other dogs!

Hes come into our house when our hearts hurt from losing our Mia. He's shown us lots of qualities of her but also his own. He's so silly and loves laundry baskets. Always climbs in them so now he even has his own with a blanket and pillow in it.

Merfy was born with a dermoid in his eye. The breeder had a vet remove it but unfortunately it was not enough and has grown back. This means he has hair growing in his eye. The breeder told us it was less than $500 for surgery. When we took him to our local vet they sent us to a specialist who quoted us $3200. The specialist has better equipment to ensure the dermoid would be removed in full.

We can't afford $3200 for the surgery plus 4 re checks at $190 appt. The only other option is removing his eye. Which we DO NOT want to do but would cost a fracture of the price to remove the dermoid. My fiance and I are very strapped right now as we just bought a house.
