About this campaign
Mia was adopted from PetSmart by one of the employees and I began to foster her soon after. She had come out of a bad situation, not allowing anyone to get near her, she was very shy and would hide all the time, only coming out at night when everyone was asleep. She has come such a long way in the 2 years that she has been my baby, even allowing me to hold her for short periods of time.
She was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis and is being treated at Pender Veterinary Center in Fairfax, VA. She was brought in Saturday evening after I found her barely responsive on my floor after returning to work. She is still being treated and is not expected to come home for a few day, with her being in the vet for 7 days total, hopefully.
Mia's favorite thing in the work is her person, my boyfriend, Cam. They have bonded in a way that I have yet to understand. She is a completely different cat around him, and he loves her with all his heart, maybe a little more than he loves me. Her eyes brighten up when he goes to visit her at the vet with me, and we are ready for her to be home with us again.
Mia's bill was originally expected to be $5,500 on the low end, but has well exceeded that amount, and is now expected to be closer to $17,600.
I have been able to contribute $10,500, emptying out my savings, but am struggling to come up with the remaining $7,100.
