Mia is a 8-year-old Bichon/Poodle in San Antonio, TX, who needs $3,213 for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO).

Mia came into mine and my two daughter's lives over 8 years ago, when I surprised them with her one Christmas morning. I was not a pet person, but my girls begged me for a puppy. As a single mother, I was a bit iffy as it was hard enough caring for my girls, but decided on it anyway. Since that day, she has completely taken over our household with nothing but unconditional love and loyalty.

Mia's day to day consists of wet nose kisses and lots of cuddling. She loves looking outside and barking at all the silly birds and squirrels she sees outside. She loves the beach and just laying out, people watching and occasionally getting in the water. Or just sitting outside with us on our patio enjoying the night air.

As a single mother, I don't have a safety net of funds that would be possible for me to have the surgery needed for Mia. It breaks my heart to see her like this and wish I could take away her pain. She's a fighter and I pray that Mia will have her surgery.

Mia was taken to Great Northwest Animal Hospital because of a limp she had and wasn't putting any pressure on one of her back paws. She had to be sedated so they could do a radiograph. The result from Dr. Michele was that Mia has a torn ACL and would need surgery. Her recommendation was for Mia to have a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO). As you can imagine, this is devastating news.

I am fortunate enough that I am able to take Mia with me to work, and has quickly become the office dog. As apartment manager, I have lots of residents who like to come by and bring her favorite peanut butter treats. She loves the attention and I love the smiles it brings to everyone. She has also become my life saver through some tough times with her love and kisses.
