About this campaign

After loosing my first dog Paisley, I was heartbroken and did not think I would own another dog for many years. A few months later, my dear friend Sophie who worked at the Sioux Falls Humane Society sent me "Claire," stating that "I just had to meet her." Not thinking much about it, I went to meet "Claire," and it was love at first sight. A few days later, "Claire" came home with me ( AKA Miley).

Miley has been diagnosed with a bilateral (both legs) cranial cruciate ligament of her back legs. The cranial cruciate ligament (known as the ACL in humans) is one of several ligaments in the stifle (knee) that connect the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone). For repair, Miley needs a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy. We are working with Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center in Omaha, NE.

Not many people know this, but Miley is my registered emotional support animal. She brings so much joy to not only me, but everyone who meets her. She is one of the smartest, goofiest, and loving dogs that I have ever met. Miley loves almost everyone she meets (human or animal) and always wants to meet new people. I have been told by so many people how gorgeous and loving Miley is.

As a graduate student, I am on a monthly stipend that does not allow much extra money each month after paying necessary bills. Because of this, without help, Miley's surgery will not be possible. Any help from others means the world to me.
