We got Milly in Sept. 2021 while I was in college in Milledgeville. My boyfriend at the time, now my fiancé, and I saw a truck full of puppies outside Walmart and stopped just to look. The moment we saw Milly, we knew she was ours. We named her after Milledgeville, Milly for short, because that is where mine and my fiancé’s story began and she brought a piece of joy we didn’t know we were missing.

Milly tweaked her back before Christmas, and though she has healed from minor injuries in the past, this time she didn’t improve. After two months of crate rest with no progress, surgery is now necessary. She will be having the procedure at the UGA Veterinary Hospital, which has a specialized neurology unit to treat her condition.

Milly is not just a pet, she is my best friend and understands me in ways no one else can. She comforts me when I need it most and brings so much joy to our family. Everyone treats her like a grandchild, with Easter baskets and Christmas gifts. Her personality is one of a kind and she truly makes our family complete.

When we got Milly, we knew she would one day meet our children. That day came with the arrival of our baby girl on March 11. I am staying home on one income. We want Milly healthy so she can grow old with our children and be a beloved part of their lives, just as she is ours
