About this campaign

I adopted Milo 10 months ago. He went through training to be my Emotional Support Animal and is on his way to being my service dog after my sister died of heart failure at 30 years old and left behind a 2 month old baby boy. It was a very hard time and Milo has been getting me through. He truly saved my life. Before the shelter, Milo was found as a stray with mange and fleas. He was on a 3 week stray hold and I visited him about eight times through his hold. I knew he was mine from the minute I saw him on my friends snapchat story (she worked at the shelter) and I immediately went in to see him. There was an instant connection. I adopted him the day he was off of stray hold and neutered. We went to his second wellness checkup yesterday at Battle Ground Veterinary Clinic in Lafayette, Indiana (where I attend Purdue University), and he is free of heart worms and completely healthy aside from his luxating patella, which is stage 4 and requires surgery this year. He is often in pain and runs with only three of his legs, since his back left leg is constantly out of socket and dislocated. Despite his pain, he is an extremely happy dog, is always smiling, and gives me more love than I ever could have imagined. It is now my turn to help him just as he helped me through the hardest time in my life. But I cannot afford it. I am trying every single possibly option to try to get him this surgery, and I am so thankful for this avenue!
