About this campaign
I have always had unconventional pets but finally I had the chance to get a dog. We saw so many dogs at so many rescue events. But the last one we went to, we found Minnie. She was not on our list of dogs to see, but as soon as we left to ponder our decision, my husband did a U-turn and said we were getting her today. And since then, she's been the star of the house.
Minnie loves my husband more than anyone in the world. And I dare say, he may love her more than he does me. She loves to sleep in our bed, which now has been renamed to her big bed. She must sleep between us both and loves to burrow deep into the blankets when it's cold. She love to cuddle and have all the petting time as often as possible.
She special for so many reasons. She came to us with so many problems we did not find out about until months in. She's eaten holes through our pockets, but when she flips over for belly rubs or barks to demand attention, I remember how much I love her. She really loves her human and human attention, especially when that attention is spent petting her.
We have dealt with pancreatitis before, but now it's progressed into hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. She has never looked and acted so defeated and it breaks my heart to not see her getting excited about her food or her lack of interest in cuddling. We are looking to to get her hospitalized at VCA Bakersfield since it seems she is not getting better.
Due to COVID, we had to rely heavily on savings and are barely building that up. We love our dog and have prepared for her health maintenance of several other underlying issues but this time it is not at a level of illness we have seen or had expected.
