Miriam is a 10-year-old Great Dane/American bulldog in Greeley, CO, who needs $2,000 for Palliative Radiation.

I have had Miri since she was a puppy. I rescued her and her siblings from a breeder that had threatened to "drown them in a river" because they were "mutts."I'm so grateful that I found her when did. I was in an abusive relationship at the time, and she gave me the strength I needed to leave. Now, we live in Colorado with my partner, two dog brothers, and a human brother she sees over the summer

Miri enjoys the finer things in life, especially when it comes to food, beds, warm jackets, blankets, belly rubs, and toys. She's the boss of the house, and likes to make sure her brothers, and everyone else, knows it. We call her "grumbles" because she sighs and grunts when she's inconvenienced, i.e. when her toys are moved, she's woken up early, or when people don't scoot over so she can sit.

She follows me everywhere! I'm a therapist, and when I work from home, she even likes to "pop in" on my virtual sessions to greet people. She has a beautiful smile that she likes to share, especially to those who give good scratches. One of my favorite things about her is that she eats almonds one tiny bite at a time. She also refuses to be in the snow without a jacket. She is not a winter dog!

Miri was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in her jaw about a month ago. It came fast and unexpected. We had taken her in for a teeth cleaning when we found out. She's being treated at Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency in Boulder. It's not curable so we are starting palliative radiation on 9/6/22 to ease her pain and slow the growth. The goal is for her to be able to enjoy the time she has left.

We've maxed out our Carecredit and other credit cards paying for diagnostics, oncology consults, medications, special diets, and ER scares. My partner is a disabled veteran, so we primarily survive off my income, which isn't a lot.
