About this campaign

Miso is a therapy cat for a child with Rett Syndrome, named Amaya. He is clicker and tether trained to be a therapy cat. Miso also supports the caregiver for the child with Rett Syndrome. He is a beloved member of our small family. Miso lives in an ADA apartment and enjoys sleeping on the medical equipment for his girl. His nickname is "Doggy" by the neighborhood because he walks on a leash.

Miso lives with a child with Rett Syndrome (Amaya) and their caregiver. He cares for this small family and looks after them. He sleeps on top of Amaya's medical enclosure bed. He begins the day by greeting Amaya by sniffing her nose (Amaya has no hand use) and following her into the bathroom. He follows her through all care tasks, and he also sees her off to bed every night.

Miso was clicker trained to walk on a leash, which he loves. He enjoys swimming and the water. He is always there for every care task for his special girl. Even in his kitten phase, he knew not to play with the oxygen nor feeding tubes. Neighborhood kids come to see him walk on his leash, and they refer to him as Doggy.

My family is camped out at the emergency vet hospital. Miso scratched opened the screen to the window and was immediately hit by a car. He has no broken bones and is set to make a full recovery. We haven't left his side. He is set to be discharged in several hours from the time I am posting this.

I am a full-time solo caregiver to a child with Rett syndrome, a life limiting illness that renders my child unable to speak nor use her hands. Miso, her therapy cat, is everything to our small family. Miso is my best friend, my only friend. I would do anything for him.
