Tiny Kitten Desperately Needs Help Battling Megaesophagus

Miss Grey has faced more challenges in her short life than most could imagine. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarder’s property in West Virginia, she was just one of many cats and kittens struggling to survive in unspeakable conditions. The house was falling apart with missing deck boards and an infestation of giant spiders. There were abandoned cars and trash strewn everywhere. The cats were living off rusty trays filled with stale kibble.

One by One Animal Advocates was doing their best to aid the cats on this property. They saw Miss Grey and her three siblings in a box, so young they still needed to be bottle fed. The rescue had absolutely nowhere to take them, but knew they couldn’t leave these incredibly susceptible, vulnerable kittens there as the cat colony was sick and dying.

Safe and under their care, Miss Grey was the most enthusiastic eater but was vomiting up food consistently and only half the size of her siblings. They took her to the vet for an evaluation where she was diagnosed with generalized megaesophagus, warranting critical need for specialized care. This condition, likely congenital, causes her esophagus to function improperly, making it difficult for her to eat.

She requires meals prepared as slurry and must eat in an upright position to allow gravity to help her digestion. Miss Grey has already undergone vet evaluations and X-rays, and while her condition cannot be cured, it can be managed with ongoing care. Despite her challenges, she is a sweet and resilient soul.
