Help Miss Sunshine Finally Live Without Pain

Miss Sunshine came into Lil Roar Cat Rescue’s care through a long-term trapping project. Despite being a very young mama herself, her focus has remained entirely on caring for her kittens, including an orphaned baby she accepted as her own.

What initially seemed like difficulty eating turned out to be something far more serious.

Miss Sunshine has severe stomatitis, calici virus, a high fever, painful oral ulcers, and a large mass that is taking up much of her mouth. Her veterinary team described her condition as one of the worst oral cases they have seen.

Even while living with constant pain, Miss Sunshine continued trying to eat, nurse, and care for her babies.

She now urgently needs extensive medical treatment, including diagnostics, biopsy, surgical removal of the mass, and a full dental extraction. In the meantime, she is receiving antibiotics, supportive fluids several times a week, pain management, and can only tolerate soft food.

Tragically, one of her kittens was lost, and the remaining babies continue to be monitored closely.

Despite everything she has endured, Miss Sunshine remains incredibly gentle, loving, and trusting. She has a long road to recovery ahead of her, but Lil Roar Cat Rescue is committed to giving her the chance to finally live without pain.

5/28/26 Update: Miss Sunshine Continues Fighting

Miss Sunshine continues receiving supportive care as Lil Roar Cat Rescue works to keep her comfortable.

There has been some encouraging improvement in her overall body condition with the help of regular subcutaneous fluids and ongoing supportive care. However, her mouth remains in very poor condition. The mass in her mouth is still present, and veterinarians now recommend a full mouth extraction in addition to treatment for the mass and severe stomatitis.

Her medications have recently been adjusted to provide stronger pain relief and additional support as her care continues.

Because of the severity of her condition and the stress her body is under, her kittens have now been placed with another nursing mother so Miss Sunshine can focus fully on healing and receiving the intensive medical care she urgently needs.

Lil Roar Cat Rescue remains committed to helping Miss Sunshine through this difficult recovery journey, and donations continue to directly support her ongoing diagnostics, medications, dental treatment, and specialized veterinary care.

6/11/26 Update: Planning for Miss Sunshine's Surgery

Miss Sunshine continues receiving supportive care while Lil Roar Cat Rescue works closely with her veterinary team to plan the next steps in her treatment.

Because of the complexity of her condition, her veterinarians have recommended completing her bloodwork at the time of her dental procedure and oral surgery. The rescue is currently consulting with veterinary specialists to determine the best option for her care, including providers with experience treating severe oral disease and complex dental cases.

In the meantime, Miss Sunshine remains separated from her kittens so she can focus on healing and receiving the care she needs. While she still has a long road ahead, the rescue is committed to finding the best possible treatment plan for her.

6/26/26 Update: Miss Sunshine's Surgery Is Scheduled!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, Miss Sunshine's Waggle campaign has now raised over $1,000! Lil Roar Cat Rescue is so grateful for every donation, share, and message of support that has helped bring her one step closer to the care she desperately needs.

We’re excited to share that Miss Sunshine’s surgery is finally in sight. She has her pre-operative bloodwork scheduled for July 3, followed by her dental surgery on July 10. During the procedure, her veterinary team plans to perform a full-mouth dental extraction to relieve the severe pain caused by her advanced stomatitis, as well as remove the large mass in her mouth. The mass will be sent to a laboratory for testing so her veterinarians can determine the best course of treatment moving forward.

After everything she has endured, we are incredibly hopeful that this surgery will give Miss Sunshine the relief she has been waiting for and the opportunity to begin living a healthier, more comfortable life.

We also wanted to share a difficult update. Sadly, despite the rescue's dedicated care and everyone's support, all of Miss Sunshine's kittens have passed away. While this is heartbreaking, your generosity ensured they received compassionate care, comfort, and every opportunity to survive. They were surrounded by love until the very end.

Now, the focus is on helping Miss Sunshine through her upcoming surgery.

7/8/26 Update: Miss Sunshine is One Step Closer

After everything this brave mama has endured, Miss Sunshine’s long-awaited surgery is finally here. She is scheduled for her dental procedure and removal of the mass in her mouth, with the mass being sent for testing to help her veterinary team better understand what she is facing and determine the best path forward.

When Miss Sunshine first arrived at Lil Roar Cat Rescue, she was suffering from severe oral disease, painful ulcers, a high fever, and a mass causing significant discomfort. Despite being in so much pain, she continued caring for her kittens and showed just how strong and loving she truly is.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Miss Sunshine was able to receive the diagnostics, medications, supportive care, and treatment planning needed to reach this important next step.
