About this campaign
About a year and a half ago we adopted Misty from our local shelter to be a companion for my daughter to help with anxiety. We already had 2 dogs and since she was about 12 weeks old ( still a baby) she was pretty much raised by them. I’m sure she thinks she’s a dog.
A few weeks ago we noticed that Misty was walking funny and hunching up her back. Several vet visits later, and a consult with a surgeon at MedVet Silicon Valley, we found out that she had fractured the femoral heads on both of her leg bones. Her only treatment is to get Femoral Head Osteotomy surgery on both legs which is estimated to cost a whopping $10K-$11.7K.
My daughter has struggled with anxiety and other mental health issues for many years . It was even difficult to get her to go to school. Although I hesitated to welcome another fur baby into our life, Misty has helped her so much. It’s amazing how much the unconditional love of an animal can help heal you. She went back to school and is very happy now.
Unfortunately we cannot afford this surgery but without it, Misty will continue to have pain as its bone on bone when she walks. She will eventually develop arthritis and may lose her ability to walk. Words cannot describe how much she means to our family.
