Tiny Misty Is Fighting to Grow Stronger

Meet Misty, a beautiful 4-month-old Russian Blue mix from Florida with the sweetest soul. She is still just a baby, but instead of spending her days chasing toys and discovering the world, Misty has been fighting a serious illness that has left her needing intensive, around-the-clock care.

After only a week in her new home, Misty became very sick. Her veterinary team has been working to determine exactly what is causing her ongoing gastrointestinal problems, and she recently tested positive for intestinal coronavirus. She has already needed antibiotics, probiotics, an enema, IV fluids, blood work, deworming treatment, and her distemper vaccination. Her care continues as her family and veterinarians work to get her stable and stronger.

At home, Misty's mom is caring for her around the clock. She has to keep this tiny kitten clean as she struggles with constant diarrhea, keep her warm, feed her small amounts at a time, and carefully monitor her condition. It is exhausting and heartbreaking—but Misty's mom refuses to give up on her.

Misty's mom is deeply attached to her sweet kitten and is doing everything she can to give her the chance to grow stronger. But the cost of repeated veterinary visits, diagnostics, medications, and supportive care is overwhelming for a low-income family.

She is now trying to raise an additional $400 to help Misty continue receiving the veterinary care she desperately needs. Her treatment plan is still developing as her veterinary team works toward a clearer understanding of what is making this little girl so sick.
