About this campaign

Mittens (nicknames Mitten, Mitty, Mit, Kit Kat) came into our lives about 10 years ago as a thank you gift for attending a friend's birthday party. He's made an indelible print on our hearts since.

Mittens rules our roost. He is currently in charge of 1 precarious 10-year-old and 2 highly energetic dogs. He's Julia's cat but has chosen me "mom" as his favorite, and the feeling is mutual.

Scratching the carpet, chewing cords, chasing the dogs and snuggling mom are his favorite pastimes. And most days you'll find him laying by mom's desk supervising her work. He was made for management!

Mittens came down sick with a urinary blockage on Monday, March 25. During the procedure to clear the blockage, they discovered he has a bladder stone and needs another surgery. He is currently being treated at Mission Animal Hospital in Eden Prairie, Minn.

Mittens' illness couldn't have come at a worse time, as we are navigating a number of unexpected college and medical expenses, including our daughter's unpaid medical leave. Mittens' total treatment is nearly $5,000, and we have already shouldered half the cost.
