About this campaign

I was gifted Molly from a neighbor after expressing the need for a running partner. We met when she was 7 weeks old and she’s been by my side since (she recently turned 7 years old). As she got older her legs grew faster than the rest of her body making her somewhat clumsy. I’ve always approached her with love in everything I do making her gentle, passive and easily trained.

Molly loves water be it a pool, river or ocean. She often goes in car rides making the passenger seat hers. She has a dog bed and sometimes sleeps on it but prefers to sleep on her back, legs in the air at the foot of the bed. Her favorite game if tug-o-war and rarely gives in. Molly communicates her needs by pawing and eye contact.

Molly is intuitive when it comes to meeting people. If she senses fear in the person she approaches slowly, sometimes crawling, making herself smaller. If she’s unsure to approach, she’ll look to me and I’ll tell her “it’s ok. Go say Hi” and happily trouts over her backside swaying vigorously happy to make a new friend.

Molly needs TPLO or tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy surgery which stabilizes the stifle joint after rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament. Her level of mobility has significantly declined. Her trips out of the home have become less and less. She does walk and is taking a pain medication.

I am a veteran on a fixed income with an unexpected major expense. My heart aches knowing her quality of life has decreased and I can’t afford to get her the type of care she needs. Not having her by my side has been incredibly challenging; she keeps me grounded and present.
