Help Mond Get the Surgery He Needs to Fight Cancer

Mond is a sweet, twelve-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie from Texas who has been through more than most dogs ever should—and yet he remains the happiest, most loving companion his mom could ever ask for.

Recently, Mond was diagnosed with left anal sac adenocarcinoma, an aggressive cancer that requires urgent anal sacculectomy surgery to remove the tumor before it has the chance to spread. His veterinarian is optimistic that with surgery—and potentially follow-up treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation—Mond can have a good prognosis and more quality time with the person who loves him most.

The estimated cost of Mond’s surgery and care is $6,727.28. Thanks to the generosity of Paws 4 A Cure, Mond has already received a $300 grant, but his mom is still working to raise $6,000 so he can move forward with treatment as soon as possible.

Mond has already faced an incredibly difficult medical journey this past year. He was diagnosed with nasal carcinoma and bravely underwent radiation treatment in hopes of gaining more time and maintaining a good quality of life. Shortly after radiation, Mond was hospitalized and diagnosed with diabetes, which now requires ongoing daily management.

Despite everything he has endured—cancer treatment, hospitalization, and learning to manage diabetes—Mond has remained joyful, affectionate, and resilient. He still loves hiking, swimming, carrying sticks and toys, and spending time with his mom and his best dog friend. Anyone who meets him quickly notices his gentle spirit and intuitive nature, especially the way he seems to know when someone needs comfort.

Just when Mond and his mom thought they could finally breathe after months of treatments and hospital visits, they received heartbreaking news: Mond has another tumor that requires surgery right away. This new cancer is separate and unrelated to his previous diagnosis, but it can spread quickly if not removed.
